Light wind turbine rotor technology

Norsetek is a young technology company consisting of experienced personnel from the Norwegian maritime and offshore industry. The company possesses technology for record breaking light and large wind turbines.

Significant achievements by use of this technology are estimated onshore as well as offshore:

The calculated rotor weight reduction in comparison with a light 5MW reference rotor is 35% with a similar cost reduction. The consumptions of composite materials and steel will typically decrease in similar range. Further to the rotor, the technology also facilitates for a lighter tower and more effective foundation, resulting in additional cost reductions.

The Norsetek design is estimated to reduce the overall cost of wind turbines with 15% onshore.

The technology is protected by Norwegian patent no. 326328.The European Patent Office (EPO) has investigated the patent and concludes that the invention is considered patentable. Patent applications have been submitted to the following areas/countries: Europe, Canada, USA, Brazil, South Africa, India, China........

Norsetek is currently preparing to perform further technology qualification. We are open to discuss with others about a broad utilization of the technology.
